Reducing diagnostic gaps: Chilean Consensus on Respiratory Polygraphy in Children with Suspected Sleep-Disordered Breathing
##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.main##
Abstract
Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in children is common, but underdiagnosed in Chile. Polysomnography (PSG), considered the gold standard for diagnosing SDB, has limited access, so respiratory polygraphy (RP) emerges as a more accessible alternative. This consensus, developed by members of the Chilean Society of Paediatric Pulmonology (SOCHINEP), the Chilean Society of Respiratory Diseases (SER) and the Chilean Society of Sleep Medicine (SOCHIMES), standardises the use of RP in paediatrics, addressing technical aspects, interpretation and special populations (infants < 3 months, patients in critical care units, obese patients, Down syndrome, craniofacial malformations, and neuromuscular diseases).
